Due to the continued high rate of drownings and near drownings in backyard swimming pools, swimming pool legislation is now tighter than ever.
A certificate of compliance is now required when selling or leasing a property with a pool in NSW.

Certified Pool Barriers are now required on all NSW pools
All swimming pools (anything deeper than 300mm) must be protected by appropriate barriers.
A suitably qualified Certifier is required to inspect the barrier.
Where a barrier is deemed to be non-compliant, a certificate of non-compliance is issued and a notice is sent to local council where an order can be placed if the certifier’s recommendations to fix are not carried out within a specified period of time.
